It's a joke with us now. He'll say, "I wonder if there's any possibility you might consider calming down." I'll scream, "What the fuck makes you think I need to calm down! Why don't you calm down!" Or similar silly exchanges. Then we laugh uproariously.

I actually love your, "We're both angry here and I can't seem to see things straight - do you want us to stop for a moment and I'll make a couple cups of tea so we can think on this?" I'll have to teach that to my SO!
