I have an embarrassing confession to make to all of you [View all]

I watched the Smurfs movie last night - watched in 3D and you know what....

I loved that movie!

It was so adorable.

I loved how they incorporated the origins of the Smurfs, which I learned has nothing to do with that over commercialized cartoon they use to have on Sunday mornings. Turns out the Smurfs have a very rich history starting out as sort a blended cartoon strip/graphic cartoon stories created by this guy in Belgium. Some of the storyline used in the movie paid tribute to the Smurf's creator - Peyo. It had an adorable plotline that kept intriguing. Neil Patrick Harris played a wonderful hero and Hank Azrira made a great villain - both played their parts wonderful without being overly cartoonish (they were live action only the Smurfs were animated). It was nice that they used Johnathon Winters as the voice of Papa Smurf (he did the voice in the original cartoons) and whomever thought of Katy Perry as the voice of Smurfette was a genius.

So even if you don't have kids you may end up enjoying this movie
