Favorite TV shows that didn't last?

227. That was exactly my first thought.

Carnivale was brilliant in so many ways -- casting, directing, cinematography, plot, storytelling, character development, etc. I understand the series creators had planned for a six-season story arc overall, but HBO only picked up the show for two seasons prior to cancelling it. There was so much more to those characters that was waiting to be explored and shared, and it's still disappointing to me (all these years later) that this show will never get a conclusion fitting its brilliance.
