Justifiably famous and noted Classic SciFi:

Metropolis -- regretfully I've never seen this film.
The Day the Earth Stood Still -- much more than Klaatu barada nikto.
Forbidden Planet -- Monsters from the id, Shakespeare would be proud.
2001: A Space Odyssey -- the best of the best. Plus, it's Kubrick.

Then, there's the evening:

Mrs. Miniver -- wartime sacrifice. Poignant.
Memphis Belle -- wartime historic account. Fictionalized later in celluloid.
Best Years of Our Lives -- probably the best war veteran film ever. And justifiably acclaimed.

Wow! I wish I had cable TV so I could get this channel.
