2019 Quilting project #2 [View all]

Here is my quilting Project that I started before the family history quilt. I was making large blocks which I was going to sew together diagonally. Larger blocks makes faster quilt making, I am all for that. But, when I sewed some of the blocks together, I was disappointed that the visual impact of the blue willow plates was lost.

I took all the blocks apart and got rid of the Corners. I then sewed them together, one 8" blue plate, One 8" (16 patch of 2" inch blocks). You can see how much stronger the design is now. I have to make more of the 16 patch blocks and have ordered another yard of the blue plate blocks. I made the blue willow blocks by scanning in one of my dinner plates and editing in Photoshop

Original design blocks I was going to use;

Revised design, the blue plates stand out, stronger visual impact. My patches were from my fabric stash.
