4. He's been hit or miss when I've seen him

I saw him in the early 90s in a festival in (I think) Mesquite TX with Buddy Guy and the Fabulous Thunderbirds and he looked overwhelmed.
Not a good show, but he was new and was in the process of getting shown up by the band before him and the legend who came next. So maybe not a fair assesment

The next time I saw him was 99 with the Memphis horns in a theater and he was great.

The past 2 times I saw him he was good, but not as good as his best.

But he is on my list of "always go see" artists because when he's on - he is fanatastic, and when he isn't on, he's really good.
