There are seven levels (Paul McCartney post) [View all]
many of us are familiar with the story about when the Beatles smoked pot with Dylan, and Macca had factotum Mal write down his (Paul's) profundities, which boiled down to "there are seven levels". Well, on vacation last week I was perusing The Lord of the Rings for the umpteenth time, and came across this:
"But Shadowfax walked proudly up the long winding road.
For the fashion of Minas Tirith was such that it was built on seven levels..." (p751 Kindle one volume edition).
So seven levels AND a long winding road...hmmm
