The farm house on Bull's Run is still there, though I don't know if it's an active farm or not anymore. I was lucky enough to drive up the Taconic with former Whole Wheat Horn saxophonist Keith Spring a few years ago, and we pulled off onto Bull's Run to check out the old place - we didn't go in, but from the curb he described where everyone lived in the house.
Chandler Travis of Travis & Shook is still active in music - the Incredible Casuals did a handful of summer gigs this year, plus he's got his own thing the Chandler Travis Philharmonic, as well as a smaller subset the Chandler Travis Three-O (I sing with both of those bands), and he has a new rock quartet called the Catbirds. Steve Shook makes rare musical appearances, but is still around - his son has a band called The Flakes that play around outer Cape Cod a bit.
I saw Willie Amrod open for the new NRBQ at Bearsville Theater near Woodstock, NY earlier this year, and I think he opened for the Spampinato Brothers at the same venue this year, too.
Jake Jacobs of Jake & the Family Jewels just released a new album - it's available from iTunes & CD Baby. Bunky of Bunky & Jake passed away sometime this year.
I hear that Frank Gadler is working on an album, too - can't wait to hear that!
I really like what both Terry & the new NRBQ and the Spampinato Brothers are doing these days - both keeping alive the spirit of NRBQ. I swear, I can see Terry 3 or 4 nights in a row and every night he plays one or two songs that I've never heard that version of the band do before. He keeps things so fresh and he looks like he's having a blast playing these days.
So immoderate, you must have seen the Dickens perform, right? I'd sure love a time machine to see them and Travis & Shook, not to mention the original Q. I got to see Gadler and Fergie perform a few times at reunion shows and on the Terry & Steve tour, but to see them back in the day - that must've been something.
