We live 30 miles out of San Antonio and into the Texas Hill Country where there are a lot of land developers making new subdivisions all the time. The housing market crash didn't touch us at all up in this neck of the woods and yuppies are still wanting their McMansions on acreage so they can brag to their friends in the city that they live in the country. What it means is that these new subdivisions have been displacing the wildlife and they've moved into the local neighborhoods to hunt and subsist. We have coyotes, bobcats, javalinas and just last month, the telephone/internet guy had to come over to our place when our service went down. He surprised some raccoons in our attic that had chewed through our cables. We're lucky our county animal control caught them and hauled them away. I've heard in some places people have to pay pest control to do it.
