would replace them so the factory defect could undergo an "autopsy" and make production line changes, Once done the product was completely gone through and refurbished to possibly better-than-new condition. Oly called them "class 2" and sold them to employees and retail sales people at ridiculously low prices, a way to build brand loyalty.

Now these products are sold directly to the consumer as refurbished. Everything I own is refurbished and I've never had an issue with any of them.

Also, modern electronics just don't fail after the first few uses--it's called "infant mortality"--so if it lasts 90 days it's probably good to go for a normal life time.
