I did one of these in Gimp, but I couldn't figure out how to save it as a jpeg. It was only semi-successful. So I bought some "actions" for PhotoShop and came up with these.

None of them are what I had in mind, but I like the last one.

Okay, found it. I have to export rather than save. This is the Gimp image.
