11. Beautiful!

I had the good fortune to see so many elephants when I went on safari a few years back, most people would be almost bored. But I never got tired of it. Each elephant thrilled me to the point of near tears.

One of my favorite encounters was a small herd near the road with lots of babies. A threesome of what appeared to be a mama and two youngsters (one a baby and the other her older sister) was no more than 10 feet from us. The baby was interested in us but the mama and older sister weren't paying us much attention. Mama got bored of the snacks on one side of the road and crossed to the other side right behind our truck. The baby started to follow her, and then got scared when she realized she was in the middle of the road and started to run back to her sister. I swear you could see the older sister roll her eyes at her scaredy cat baby sister. She sighed and guided her across the road to mom before going back to pretending she was too cool to care. It was remarkable how clearly you could read their body language.
