12. My family and I are visiting in North Georgia, staying in a log house on a mountain top.

It is very cold with wind chill dipping to -7 or lower tonight. My husband woke up this morning (New Year’s Day) at 6:40 to catch sight of the moon shining in the window. He grabbed
my camera and raced out on the deck in sub-freezing weather to snap some pictures. He woke me up to see the moon as it was setting. It was a large, orange-red ball dominating the sky. Just gorgeous and so unusual. I’ve seen Harvest Moons but this one was different. The color was stunning. Sorry I can’t post a picture as it is on my camera with no way to upload pictures.

Did anyone else in this vinicinty happen to see the orange/red moon? We talked about it several times today and other family members were thinking of getting up early tomorrow in hopes of seeing it.
