no, he was poached as a baby by a nest raider and sold to a woman who cleaned the office of my company. she needed money and sold the bird to me, and i asked her not to buy illegally captured wild birds anymore. his feathers were clipped but grew back fully after about 7 months at which point i figured he'd fly off with the flocks of crimson fronted parakeets that pass by here....but by then he was too comfortable and enamored with some of the hens in the chicken run, where he was living. so he stayed. he won't leave.

i under-exposed the shot by a couple stops to darken the background and then brought back the parakeet in post production (DxO, lightroom and photoshop) and further darkened the background to black. i uploaded a full res image so you should be able to enlarge it on a computer monitor and really see the detail.
