...the story and photos of epidemics and pandemics would be included in every Science class, every History class, and every English class. With pictures.

How in English classes? Easy: I can think of several novels right off the top of my head that have one or more chapters devoted to devastating diseases we brought under control, and are now in danger of returning. Mark Twain: a beloved child dies of “membranous croup.” Charles Dickens: take your pick, but smallpox shows up in Bleak House. And on it goes.

If our population was not so effing ignorant, if our population had something to fill their imaginations with besides cat videos, maybe we wouldn’t be in this dire situation.
