I used to teach high school French and have a pretty decent accent. During trips to France with either my students or by myself, I hardly ever got taken for an American. As for grammar and vocabulary now, seems I'm not nearly as fluent as I used to be though I do try to watch TV5 every day, especially for another view of world news.
