22. I've been to McCarthy,

But I've never watched that show. It's really a beautiful location. Do they show much of the old copper mine or the glacier? There's a nice trail that runs right alongside the glacier for several miles that we hiked when we were up there. To get to McCarthy and the Kennicott mine, from Chitina you drive 65 miles or so on this dirt road that used to be where the railroad ran during the copper days. You have to be really careful because there are still railroad spikes that poke up periodically after rain or other erosion. People traveling back there are always warned to take a couple of spare tires just in case.

We read that the people of McCarthy were not too thrilled to have the intrusion of the TV show into their small community. You can read about it here
