Republican Lawmakers Unbelievable Hypocrisy Absolutely Stuns MSNBC Hosts [View all]

As I’ve said before, when people are forced to defend the indefensible, that’s when the excuses they come up with start to become preposterous.

Such as Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) arguing that Robert Mueller should step aside as special counselor, claiming his close relationship with former FBI director James Comey is a conflict of interest — while simultaneously criticizing Attorney General Jeff Sessions for recusing himself after he was caught lying about meetings he had with Russian officials, and denying that the attorney general’s relationship with Trump would compromise his ability to do his job ethically.

“I was against a special counsel in the first place being appointed,” Franks told MSNBC’s Ali Velshi and Stephanie Ruhle. “Because I was convinced, as I said so at the time, that it would go off the rails and certainly it has.”

“In terms of recusal, it’s not so much me calling for recusal, even though I do with great conviction, it’s the law itself that calls for recusal,” he added. “It says that anyone who has a relationship with any of the conduct being investigated, the person then has to recuse himself. And the law is very clear on this.”

Discussion of the recusals begins at the 5:30 mark. Prior to that Franks kept blaming President Clinton and President Obama for the problems with North Korea.
