I was thinking about it because a friend is currently there for medical reasons and she said she liked it. I do know I want out of the Houston area where there are hurricanes and just recently that horrible freeze.

Tuscon, Flagstaff and Sedona are my choices in Az. All more than an hour, probably.

Check out Payson. It still gets hot but not as hot and doesn't stay hot all night like the valley.

Consider moving to New Mexico instead. I've lived in Phoenix and am very happy here
