Applegate has a really good chance to beat Issa, the richest and most loathsome Congressional Rep of all.
He's a retired Marine Corps Colonel; that really eats into Issa's Camp Pendleton base. Also Issa endorsed Trump early and emphatically, not the swiftest move in a district with substantial Hispanic registration.

Applegate's a lawyer and a very blunt, clear, liberal candidate. He's got a real chance to remove Issa from his rotting throne!
