Am I the only one working with a bunch of SOCAL vaccine queue line jumpers? [View all]
I think about 90% of the people under 50 have now jumped the queue at work. Most of these people were working from home. They were all pissed the defense industry wasn't included on the essential list. Then suddenly they all started reappearing at work and I was like well that's funny. Apparently there's places in SOCAL were the vaccine centers don't give a crap about the age queues and once 16-64 with underlying conditions became a thing, they gave up enforcing it. There is no real legal jeopardy from jumping and so they jumped. Some had letters from bosses telling them they were essential even though they're not really essential workers. Most simply made an appointment and got vaccinated. The sad thing is not every center is like that. You still hear about teachers turned away because they didn't have proof or 70 plus year old dying while waiting to get their vaccine. Many got vaccinated before my good friend that's 67 years old and worked in person everyday since June 2020. The thing is, none of them give a shit that they did it. They all think they're clever to have found a place or gotten a note etc...
Monday I talked to the low income workers where I buy my lunch in the morning. I asked, and none were vaccinated. They're all too busy working to bother. I'm starting to get the feeling too many of the wrong people were protected by the illusion of the queue in late March early April while these upper middle class workers jumped the vaccine queue.
I'm sort of disgusted by it all. It was 2-3 week from the queue opening for all, but they couldn't wait.
Am I the only one experiencing this?
