I have seen warm Januarys before, after all that is one of the reasons all these people moved here, but the most recent one was more consistent than any I can remember. OTOH, right now it's cold and drizzly and I am concerned that my courageous pepper is going to have a hard time. It might be partly my fault, since I been working the ground and composting, and that can perk them up, and that particular pepper started late last year and never did produce anything, so it might have been hot to trot.

Last year was weird anyway, because there were very few honey bees, so I had healthy flowering plants with not much fruit. This year there seem to be plenty of bees again. Some other people I discussed that with suggested it might be an after effect of burning half the San Gabriel Range and then two wet Winters, it taking a year or two for enough new growth to support a normal bee population.
