... we are experiencing increased interactions between people and black bears. The bears are opportunistic and very smart; they're also very cautious and shy of humans for the most part. But, get between a sow and her cubs, and all bets are off.
Grizzlies are more that twice the size of black bears, and harbor no such caution around humans. People aren't a threat, they're lunch!
Parts of northern Cali might accommodate grizzlies with minimum interspecies confrontations, but a bear with forepaws that are bigger than both of a big man's hands spread wide, and tipped with 5 or 6 inch claws, is not gonna have any respect for property lines.
I gotta wonder if the proponents of this scheme have thought this through. Starry-eyed romanticism ain't gonna save your ass if one of those bad boys wonders how that ass will taste.
