who stopped watering their lawn and then got a threatening letter from their local city rules enforcement:

So I guess the lesson is don't go overboard. Check your sprinklers so that they're not watering sidewalks or letting water run into the gutter. But don't turn them off altogether if you live in places like Glendora. Try switching over to a water free "lawn" like a rock garden or cactus garden...something more decorative than dead grass and dirt.
