4. Gentrification is crushing people on fixed incomes

The people who haven't been displaced by greedy landlords already live in fear they will be next. We are talking about long term residents whose only crime was they were never rich enough to buy property in Berkeley. The Richie Riches have been absolutely heartless, and the Mayor just lets the issue sit in committee.

But even though many are living lives of quiet desperation, Berkeley is their beautiful home. They aren't ready to burn the city down in the name of Overthrowing the System. BAMN and whoever else has been egging on the vandals and looters need to get their heads out of the sand and listen to the community around them. Berkeley is still in the peaceful protest stage: this is the place to gather supporters.
