South Windsor Democrats continue legal fight over election, despite victory [View all]

After retaking control of the South Windsor town council, Democrats are in the midst of a legal fight to get a sixth seat on the board.

Harrison Amadasun finished in sixth place, and his 3,847 votes on election night would have been enough to earn a seat on the nine-member council.

Voters also approved a town charter change on Nov. 4 to prevent any party from holding more than five seats on the council.

With the change taking effect the next day, Town Clerk Bonnie Armstrong instead certified results that named Republican Richard Balboni to the last council spot, despite earning 2,937 votes.
