US Coast Guard to celebrate aviation centennial during local flyover

WHO: Coast Guard air stations from North Carolina, New Jersey, Alabama and the District of Columbia will provide the following aircraft: H-65 Dolphin helicopter; MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter; HC-144 Casa aircraft; C-27J Medium-Range Surveillance aircraft; HC-130 Long-Range Recover aircraft; and C-37 Gulfstream G-5 Long-Range Command and Control aircraft.

WHAT: Coast Guard aviation centennial commemorative flyover.

The Coast Guard is scheduled to continue its celebration of its aviation centennial by conducting a commemorative flyover in the District; the flyover will include nine aircraft representing the current fleet, some with historical paint schemes to honor the service's proud history of aviation excellence.

The flyover is also part of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's Innovations in Flight display, which is scheduled to take place at the museum June 18.

Flyover viewing points will include: Morgan Boulevard Metro Station*; Anacostia Park; 11th Street Bridge; Nationals Park; Fort McNair; Hains Point/East Potomac Park; Jefferson Memorial; Gravelly Point Park; Pentagon; Arlington, Virginia; and Falls Church, Virginia.
