Notice to the Public. Temporary Closure of Dupont Circle
Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 1.5, and effective beginning Friday, June 19, 2026, until Monday, June 22, 2026, the National Park Service, at the request of the United States Park Police, is imposing a temporary closure of Dupont Circle and its turf panels, and sidewalks as illustrated in the attached map and as further delineated by fencing.
Specifically, there will be a temporary closure to the public of Dupont Circle from approximately 6:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026, to approximately 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2026. Violation is prohibited.
The park area will be closed to the public to provide for public health and safety and protect natural and cultural resources in Dupont Circle Park. Please note, it is anticipated that NPS personnel will also temporarily restrict public access in these areas during the installation of anti-scale fencing.
These public access restrictions are necessary during fence installation to ensure the safety of the public as well as the personnel engaged in installation. Once fence installation is complete in a specific area, public access will be restored until the above-referenced public access restrictions begin at approximately 6:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026. Persons demonstrating or otherwise using these park areas should remove themselves and any personal property from the closed park areas by 6:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026.
The National Park Service appreciates the public's cooperation in this matter.
