(15,435 posts)HOW stupid this was! I could make a long list as to "the why," but the HUGE GLARING reality is the message that this state sent AGAIN! I've lived here in Florida for all of my adult life having moved here after I married my husband who was born in Tampa.
As a true liberal I strongly felt I needed I had to do what I did to get people to vote for Crist. Can't say I was crazy about him, but as I have said before, when he was governor before (didn't vote for him then) he did surprise me because he wasn't the type of "R" I expected. I tend to think he tried to govern in his own way, but moderately. Is he any more of an opportunist than other politicians, I don't think so. Aren't most politicians opportunists and do much behind closed doors that make regular people furious? I have no doubt about it, but for this state to demand a certain amount of purity from Crist that so called "true" Democrats like Joe Manchin aren't held to is just plain STUPID, STUPID, STUPID! I have lists of "true" Democrats that are no better, starting with Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, Bill Nelson and maybe I'll include Ed Rendell too! There are so many, but here in FLORIDA maybe too many people spent time at the beach and have SALT between their ears!
To sit back and LET Rick Scott get elected again is beyond my comprehension. If we thought George Bush couldn't string a sentence together, did anyone ever WATCH an interview with Scott?? This is one DANGEROUS, dangerous man because I doubt he makes a decision without checking with his higher ups who probably don't give a rat's ass about this state. He's a crook and they paid good money for him! So now they can put another check on their side of the column. This state isn't VT., it's HUGE in the whole scheme of things.
THIS DIDN'T HAVE TO HAPPEN! It's so mind boggling to me to have thrown the Repukes this high priced piece of meat! Their claws dug into us deeper and their boots stamped on the backs of our necks with more power. I know what I sound like, but even here in my very Red county I don't think I met one person who had anything good to say about Scott. Even Repukes said they wouldn't vote for him!
I really wonder how many people gave this election any real thought and what kind of message it sent! So out of touch, and as one person here said rather glibly IMO, in not so many words... the sun will come up tomorrow and comments of this sort, are almost more than I can take. Florida has been building a weird image for some time now and it keeps getting worse. So many people laugh when I say where I'm from! Since the election of 2000 too many outsiders call us the state that doesn't know how to vote! And now we get rolled by re-electing a dyed in the wool proven CROOK!
Yes, I voted for a somewhat faux Democrat, would have preferred one that was more like me, but for this state I realized it's not a wish that would be granted. We NEEDED to show the Repukes that we would vote like they do, beat them at their own game, go along to get along, but NO too many just didn't seem to see this or understand. At this point in time, FL is no place I'm going to find purity so I did what I felt I needed to do.
My feelings about what I plan to do to help in the future are best left for me to keep quiet about. I'll just say I'm more than fed up and that rope I was hanging onto may have snapped it's last thread! My roots are here, my extended family lives here, I can't just get up and move. I really don't have that option. I'm sure many don't see things as I do, but I just feel I have to have my say. So to those of you who think I sound crazy, OH WELL, TOO BAD. Maybe this election finally put me over the cliff, who knows?
RICK SCOTT?? RICK SCOTT?? OMFG, just read my tag line. Never was truer than right now!
