Puerto Rico to endorse Bill Nelson on MondayTampa Bay Times, 6/3/18
Bill Nelson on Monday will net the endorsement of former Puerto Rico Gov. Pedro Rossello as the Democrat battles Rick Scott for a prized voting bloc.
Rossello, father of the current governor, will appear in Tampa with Sen. Nelson, Mayor Bob Buckhorn and U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, then head to Kissimmee for another event.
Even if endorsements are overstated, Rossello's visit illustrates how important both candidates view the Puerto Rican vote.
Gov. Scott last week made his sixth visit to Puerto Rico since Hurricane Maria and has offered the state's assistance. Democrats pounced when Scott said he wasn't sure what he would do differently than the Trump administration — and Nelson will likely bring that up Monday.
