their quality of care goes down. The focus on the business becomes about profit with unnecessary procedures and treatment being pushed unnecessarily. The problem is that most physicians have to belong to a group in order to share the expense of business....administration, real estate, equipment, billing. You very rarely see any type of healthcare other that PCP by independent physicians. That is also the reason that most PCP will send you to a specialist for everything other than minor issues. Prior to the 70s the PCP did almost everything other than serious issues right there in their office.

Bottom Line - we do not have a healthcare system in the US based on health but mostly based on profit ($$$$).
