2. Obama's reelection isn't the point in this case

The point is that Iran is no threat to the U.S., that Israel is getting upset about the rhetoric of one nutcase who doesn't have any real decision-making power, and that Iran could actually mount a credible defense. Iran has not sponsored the suicide bombers, and its development of nukes is perfectly understandable when you consider that it is surrounded by U.S. military forces on all sides. Literally.

Bombing of Iran (especially if the U.S. participated) would bring justifiable worldwide condemnation.
