Anyone here dealt with water damage issues in Las Vegas homes? [View all]

Hey everyone,
I’ve been digging into something recently that I didn’t expect to be such a headache—water damage in Las Vegas of all places.

You’d think in the desert it wouldn’t be a big issue, but apparently it’s way more common than people realize. Between older plumbing systems, slab leaks, AC condensation lines, and those sudden heavy rains that overwhelm drainage, it can get bad fast.

A friend of mine had a pipe burst while they were out of town for just a couple days, and by the time they got back, the damage was already into the walls and flooring. What surprised me most is how quickly mold can start forming—even in a dry climate like Vegas.

Another thing I’ve been wondering about is insurance. From what I’ve read, coverage really depends on whether the damage is “sudden” vs gradual. Seems like a lot of people assume they’re covered… until they’re not.
Also curious:
Have any of you dealt with water damage out there?
Is it mostly plumbing issues or weather-related?
How fast do you actually need to act before it becomes a major structural problem?

Feels like one of those things people don’t think about until it happens—and then it’s already expensive.
