6. It's FEBRUARY. What do you expect?

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]I grew up in the NY metropolitan area. January almost always brought a thaw and weather such that we kids peeled off our coats and scarves, and then February always dumped us into the midwinter deep freeze.

February temperatures in the teens and 20s were expected and not unusual at all. It's recent mild winters that are the anomaly.

Why is normal Northeast February weather suddenly a "nightmare" and "disaster"?
