And... re the above: I only see two "factions", not "several". Smith was indicted for trying to bribe his way to the GOP nomination for mayor of NYC. I don't see how that makes him any kind of Democrat.

Sampson ( I believe) sits alone for some other complicated, corruption-related reason. (If I'm wrong I will apologize and retract.). In any event, one member does not make a "faction".
