Comment period extended for state's high-speed rail plans [View all]

The Citizen staff

The state Department of Transportation will extend its public comment period for a draft environment impact statement exploring ways to provide higher speed rail service between New York City and Niagara Falls.

Comments will be accepted through Wednesday, April 30. The public comment period opened Jan. 31 — the date the draft environmental impact statement was published — and was initially scheduled to close Monday, March 24.

The state DOT said the period was extended due to community requests.
