Mayor de Blasio: Delay in response to deadly Rockaway fire "unacceptable" [View all]

Mayor de Blasio said it was “unacceptable” how long it took ambulances to get to the scene of a Rockaway fire where two 4-year-old died, and vowed to get to the bottom of it Tuesday.

“We all know that something went wrong. We’ve got to know why it went wrong. We’ve got to fix it going forward. It’s not acceptable,” de Blasio said.

The FDNY is probing why it took 21 minutes for an ambulance to show up at the Easter fire, which killed Jai’Luni Tinglin and half-sister Ayina Tinglin.
