My mother was my best friend. Since she's gone I feel so untethered to the world.
Daddy would take us to WNC to Pisgah Forest every fall. After she got to where she couldn't travel, it was just us.
Years and years of wildlife photography, lots of birds and macro photos of tiny delicate plants mostly wildflowers. Things that only grow there. Sometimes they would be on the endangered list. We had all of the Audubon field guides.
He'd be completely heartsick if he was alive to see it today.
So many wonderful people, places and animals and plants. So much destruction is hard to imagine. It will not be like it was ever again.
I still have my sleeping bag and carry my bird caller on my key chain. Sometimes I just sit in the yard with it and wait for the birds. They are always there for me, too.
I can only think about it in small doses. I can't fathom how people are hurting. It's just too much.

This might look small, but the sound it can create is so realistic, you’d swear it was a real bird. The quality that goes into producing this bird call is phenomenal, and it shows. Take good care of it, and it can last a very long time!

American Bird Products is a family business started in 1947 by Roger Eddy. From his farm in Newington, Connecticut, Mr. Eddy and his family made and sold the original Audubon Bird Call for over 50 years. After Roger passed in 2003, his grandsons Martin and Sam Fox moved the company to their home state of Rhode Island. The Fox brothers have continued their grandfather's commitment to high quality, hand-made products.
