1. Well, actually no, the 1rst Amendment probably doesn't help

The 1rst Amendment to the Constitution prevents the government from restricting the freedom of speech. It does not address private or commercial actions. In other words, if people or groups want Dr. Laura Schlessinger's TV show off the air they are free to pressure the TV station or advertisers on the show to end their support. (This is a real life example). The NC Republican Party is not a governmental agency so they can take actions against "NC Bookwatch" and not run afoul of the 1rst Amendment.

That being said, I deplore the NCGOP and everything it stands for.
