who want to return to some mythical way of life. They hate taxes and will destroy the state in their zeal to lower (or eliminate) them:

A new loophole for businesses will cost state $336 million a year http://www.newsobserver.com/2012/06/03/2105416/a-new-loophole-for-businesses.html#storylink=cpy

(All the while firing teachers, ignoring eugenics victims and axing pre-K programs.)

They also have a pathological hatred of trains, which I will never be able to wrap my brain around. I grew up in MD and watched the DC area *explode* around Metro; the same would happen in the Triangle (major universities, state capitol, Research Triangle Park, international airport, convention center, Durham Bulls stadium, DPAC....DUH!).

A "state-of-the-art" Medicaid contract is a perfect example of the incompetence. It's approaching $1 BILLION and written in freakin' COBOL. North Carolinians were promised jobs, but guess what? Only two NC community colleges teach COBOL. So where are over half of the workers from? India! (God Bless 'em, they gotta work, too.) They're now promising jobs to North Carolinians with fracking, but the jobs will be coming from the outside because no one has the skills.

I've only been here 7 years, but it seems that many North Carolinians pride themselves on being "independent" and not like "the North." They HATE unions, but the state has always had some of the lowest manufacturing wages in the nation. (Yes, be proud, North Carolinians!)

I thought I'd retire here; now I'm not so sure. Vermont is looking pretty good.
