I am happy to note that the bigger population centers west of the Cascades are reliably liberal, whether they are registered Democrats or not. On my side of the mountains? Not so much. But there are fewer people, so it's less of an impact overall.
Bernie won the '16 primaries overwhelmingly in Oregon. Hillary won our electoral votes in the general election. Oregon didn't help elect Donald Trump, despite the large numbers of "no party."
Nationally, independents outnumber both Democrats and Republicans significantly.
