Roddy was always famous for having received lots of exclusive scoops and leaks from the Corbett Campaign, while he was covering that campaign for the Post-Gazette. Then, surprise surprise, he gets a cushy job with the Corbett administration right after the election. This was at a time when plenty of 57 year old reporters were being pushed out the doors of major newspapers.

Coincidence???
