Corbettt said he can't get things passed by Legislature because he can't bribe them with grants [View all]

For years, the Governor and legislature in PA helped cajole individual legislators to vote as they were told by offering them "Walking Around Money" grants that they could direct towards their favorite local projects. For example, if a legislator came through with a key vote, he might get $20,000 that he could split between a couple local fire companies. The legislator then showed up in the newspapers holding an oversized check as he handed it to the fire chief.

Today, Corbett said that is why he can't get anything passed by the Republican controlled House and Senate - because he no longer has walking around money that he can use to bribe them.
