1. Wes Reed was the Democratic candidate in this race in 2014

Reed is an impressive person who is ex-military. There was some hope that this district would be Bill Maher's winner in his flip a district campaign. I met Reed at the Texas Democratic State Convention and was impressed with his credentials. Reed was not adequatedly funded but ran a credible campaign and was the superior candidate. However, the gerrymandered district is a tough one to break. I think that this is one of the disricts that may be under scrutiny in the Texas redistricting lawsuit. If the boundaries of this district goes back to the old boundaries, then this could be a competitive race.
