But another suggestion is that you keep in touch with your local county Democratic party. If they're organized and have a mailing list you could get informed that way. They would be in the loop for sure.

I think that's the first notice I got about the Austin event - from the Travis County Democratic party (TCDP) mailing list.

That and being on the TexansForObama mailing list too. They're still sending out notices via e-mail, they just don't have a website where you can sign up for e-mail anymore. So if you join the TFO Facebook page you don't exactly get e-mail notices. You would have to watch the FB page.
