All Texas driver's license offices closed down [View all]

Gov. Greg Abbott shut down all Texas driver’s license offices Wednesday night to limit potential exposure to the new coronavirus.

The closings, for an indefinite period, will not apply to those seeking a commercial driver’s license.

Texas Department of Public Safety offices will open only for those seeking an initial commercial license — and only by appointment — to help meet delivery needs across the state, Abbott said.

“Our commercial drivers are essential to the consistent flow of goods throughout the state, and we will continue to ensure those seeking an initial CDL can do so,” Abbott said.
