It also lost Democratic support in 2020 as compared to 2018. The Democrat got only 44% of the vote

Republican Ron Wright (incumbent) 179,507 52.8 -0.3
Democratic Stephen Daniel 149,530 44.0 -1.4
Libertarian Melanie A. Black 10,955 +1.7

Trump carried the district by only 3 points in November, every other statewide Republican candidate, including U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, won it by more comfortable margins ranging from 6 to 8 points.
