VA-HD23: Early voting begins in special election for state House seat [View all]

Dumfries, Triangle and Quantico voters: It’s time to head to the polls for the quick-turnaround special election for an open seat in the Virginia House of Delegates.

Early voting began today, Saturday, Jan. 3 for the Tuesday, Jan. 13 special election to replace Del. Candi King (D) in the House of Delegates’ 23rd District. King will resign from her seat to become Virginia’s new secretary of the commonwealth.

Prince William County Supervisor Margaret Franklin, 39, of Woodbridge, won a Dec. 16 firehouse primary to become the Democratic nominee in the contest. The local Republican committee nominated Verndell Robinson, 54, of Triangle, as its nominee.

Early voting will take place until 5 p.m. today, Jan. 3 and will continue daily throughout the coming week, including tomorrow, Sunday, Jan. 4 and Saturday, Jan. 10. The last day of early voting will be Saturday, Jan. 10.
