U.S. Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-Va.-10th) was today tapped to chair the Research and Technology Subcommittee for the Committee on Science, Space and Technology.
....
Having been the Chairwoman of the Science and Technology Committee in the Virginia House of Delegates, chairing the Research and Technology Subcommittee in the House of Representatives will allow me to continue my work on innovation and 21st century jobs, Comstock said in a statement. My district is home to many leading technology companies and innovative entrepreneurs who are leading the way in technology, research, and development.
The Subcommittee on Research and Technology has legislative jurisdiction and general oversight and investigative authority on all matters relating to science policy and science education, including the Office of Science and Technology Policy and all and scientific and engineering resources.
....
Science, Space and Technology Committee Chairman Lamar Smith, a Texas Republican, said Comstock was an ideal choice to chair the subcommittee because of her "extensive experience working on science and technology issues."
What that "extensive experience working on science and technology issues" is, I do not know. I could find nothing online that suggests she has any background in STEM at all.
