Downtown Seattle is changing and growing. In the next 20 years, downtown jobs and residents are expected to grow by more than 50 percent. With bumper-to-bumper car traffic and 700 local and regional buses running through downtown each rush hour, the City of Seattle is committed to introducing higher capacity transit service that will improve north-south mobility and connect the South Lake Union and First Hill streetcar lines.
Seattle's Department of Transportation received a federal grant to plan for high-capacity transit options and alignments for this "Center City Connector."
Spoiler alert: It's looking good for a streetcar on First Avenue!
Join Transportation Choices Coalition and our expert panelists for a discussion on the Center City Connector - how SDOT came to its recommendations, funding options for the streetcar, and what the impacts on local businesses might be. Plus, learn more about how you can get involved as the process moves forward.
Panelists include:
Tony Mazzella, Seattle Department of Transportation
Bill LaBorde, Office of Seattle City Councilmember Tom Rasmussen
Ben Franz-Knight, Pike Place Market Preservation & Development Authority
